Mount Kinabalu Day 2

Day 2- Woke up at 1.30am(considering most of us only able to sleep 1-2 hours d nite before is
something not easy..:P)
Had our supper..(well..they call it as supper..dun ask me why..:P)

However,who say we are sleepy??

It's posing time!!!

Hip-hop pose!!!

3 blind mice,3 blind mice..ooppsss.. i mean 1 blind mouse..:P

2.30am
start our hike towards the PEAK!!!!to see sunrise!!! as you ascend, you will notice a few things..

From clay road to semi clay and rock road and to rock

The plants will become and smaller and lesser and virtually no plant left at the peak..

and of course.. most importantly..the air will become thinner and thinner

Towards the peak there..

walking a few steps is equivalent to walking few hundred on sea level..

At that moment is not about,

how good are you physically (of course..it do help a little bit if you are physically stronger)...
but it's about how strong are you MENTALLY...

now, you'll understand why one of the module or lesson in motivation camp is mountain climbing...

ok..let's get back to our topic..hehe..

It was 4 degree Celsius when we started our hike...So I wore 3 layers of clothing which includes the windbreaker. Winter cap and headlamp was also strapped to my head.

At first we had to walk up endless wooden staircases (duh..staircase again!!!!!?), until we reached the rock surface that was strapped with big rope as our guide.

Since it was dark, all we can see was just the rope, what is immediately in front of us and of course all the moving lights from the other climbers...

The trail was kinda narrow..and some of the places we only manage to have half of our feet on the trail..(that's mean half of our feet is hanging on the air with the cliff just beside us)...

sounds scary?haha..no la..because it's very dark ma..so you wont be able to see the bottom d...:P

but at the time you are descending (yup..you got it..you are using the same trail to ascend and descend)..hehe..then..you'll know it..

just stay calm and dun scare...you have to be totally focus..any lapse of concentration is fatal..

trust me..NO PLAY PLAY..

Next up..

steeper and steeper slopes(up to 80+ degree) are awaiting you..

Few hours later..

Despite the freezing whether, the near frozen fingers (ya..i had to constantly move my fingers to prevent the fingers from frozen),thin air, countless difficult/insane/deadly terrain...

we reach the summit!!!

hmmm..at the peak..

what can do??

besides enjoying the views,sunrise...

of coz it's time to take fb-profile picture time!!!

p/s...this is how you play truth or death next time..go up mount kinabalu and go naked..then you know the definition of cold..:)..calling people to make confession..sudah OUTDATE la...adik...

or pokai picture perhaps??

or bridging???

o..yaya..before i forget..actually there's a small pond on the peak there..last time those people used to pray the mountain god..but now it's already becomes a wishing pond..so you all can throw some coins there and make some wishes..(I threw 50 cent and make 5 wishes..ooppss...am I too greedy? :P)

well..if you believe that god is at the heaven(sky) so the closer are you to the sky,the closer are you to the god..so making wish at the peak, maybe it's a good idea..(lolz..yaya..it's sound fake..:P)

well..after all the photo-taking sessions..it's time descend to Laban Rata and have our breakfast..then descend ALL the way back to the foot of mount Kinabalu...

hmmm...

of course..

what can i say about this hike??

seriously..
I enjoyed it a lot!!!!The view are AWESOME and like what i said in my last post..those view can only be seen when you are actually at that place yourself...

no wonder it attracts so many people go hike mt Kinabalu!!!Mt KK is like United Nation like that..For all the days I'm at the mount..I'm able to see people from various countries..UK,Africa,Korea,Japan,China,Malaysia(of course la),Indonesia,Thailand,US...and even people from Israel...

some even come for honeymoon trip..(duh..ok!!!my next honeymoon trip is to Mt Everest..ooppss..i think no one will ever want to marry me already..:P)

some more it rains on the first day..yes..it did make our hiking more difficult due to the wet surface..and colder temperature..but the view we able to see was even more nicer!!!and thank god that,it didn't rain at all on the second day of hiking...

because you cannot hike if there's rain on the second day(that's why one of my friend..he went there 3 times already and yet won't be able to reach the peak due to rain..)

and of course..the sunrise was nice as well..

next time if you ask me..hey!!wanna go hike any mountain to see sunrise??hmm..I already see the BEST..but I still will follow you d...

BECAUSE I LIKE TO CLIMB MOUNTAIN!!!!

The hiking is tiring and gruesome..(ya..the next day...or for the matter of fact..the next few days..you won't really able to walk...or you walk like a crab..ever see how's a crab walk???try it...:) and every time you see stairs..trust me..you will SWEAR!!!)

But I will say one thing..

It's not easy to climb mt KK...(judging by how many people actually did not make it to the peak..

but it's ACHIEVABLE!!!provided you don't have any disease (eg asthma or heart problem) and you train yourself (at least one month of training)...

And..

the sense of of achievement (ya..you will feel more lansi after you successfully conquer mt KK...because everytime you look back at the peak, you will start to ask..wow..I actually did reach that FUNNY shape peak mountain before and so-call the highest peak in SEA)

And..

of course you will get your COLORED certificate if you reach the peak of Mount Kinabalu...:)
